Olympia

Hey everybody! Me and my band just finished our first day in Olympia! It is July 6th right now, and almost time for our first concert! While everyone else is finishing putting on their matching outfits, I decided to take a few minutes to fill you all in on our trip so far.

The car ride was boring, but that is to be expected. Bryinda was on her cell phone the whole time arguing with one of her friends about something or other. The rest of us pretty much sat silently, doing nothing. Except for Kyle that is. He was driving.

When we got to Olympia, the first thing we did after finding a hotel was driving (yes, even more driving) down to the Washing State Capitol for a tour. The building was very nice, and the chandelier amazed me! After that we went back to the hotel and swam in the pool for an hour or so, then prepared things for the next day and went to sleep. The next morning we slept in until 10:00 a.m., ate breakfast, then went to Yashiro Japenese Garden. It was beautiful! Can you believe that after that we were already hungry again? We went to McDonalds for lunch. Then we went to a Washington Symphony Orgestra preformance to watch someone else preform, and then went back to the hotel to get ready for our preformance.

Well, seems like everyone is ready now, so I must go. Wish us luck!

We have calculated the meal, hotel, and gas expenses and found out what items we are going to need to buy for our tour. On average meals will be $35 per person per day. Gas is going to cost about $12,082 for our whole trip. As for hotel costs, it really depends on what hotel we choose to spend the night in. We averaged it out into three catagories the best we could, those catagories being expensive, medium, and cheap. For all five of us, the expensive hotels will cost about $23,600 per day, the medium $16,225 per day, and the cheap, $6,490 per day. For the medium and expensive, that costs more per day than gas for our whole trip! We are going to have to be carefull with money if we want to make this whole trip.

Here is our list of items that we are going to need to buy:
  • New bass guitar strings
  • Repairs on the symbol and foot pedal for the drums
  • A new keyboard
  • One new amp, and repairs for another amp

Optional:

  • Skins for instruments
  • Disco light
  • Colored disco light
  • Flying dragon
  • Flashing colored lights
That's all that I've got for today. Goodbye!

Logo

We have been thinking about our band name and our logo, and who would draw it. We decided that Tiatra should draw it. She is the best artist out of all of us, though even she isn't quite a professional. So, we all decided what our logo was going to be, and she drew it. Here it is:

Wednesday

schedule

Hello again! I have some time today, so I thought I would post our schedule for July. We just got it figured out. We are still working on the other months, but we have July. We are going to do our last concert in Marysville on July 4th at our normal concert time which is going to be 7:00-11:00pm for the whole trip unless I say anything different. Then on July 5th we are going to head for Olympia at noon and hopefully arrive there around 2:00pm. We are going to have a concert that night, and then the next day we are going to set out at noon once again to arrive at Salem around 3:00pm. As usual we will have another concert. Then the next day we will be on our way again at 9:00am and arrive at Sacramento somewhere around 5:30 to do another gig at the usual time. At noon the next day we shall head towards Carson City to arrive at about 3:00pm for our usual gig. July 9th we shall head out yet again at 9:00am towards Salt Lake City for our next concert. The next day we shall go out towards Phoenix at the same time as the day before, to arrive there around 7:00 pm. No gig tonight; it's a rest night. The next day we shall rest and do whatever special activities we wish to do until the normal gig time. July 12th, we shall head out at 9:00 to reach Santa Fe around 5:00 to wait for our usual concert. At 9:00 the next day, we shall begin the journey to Austin, hopefully arriving some time around 9:30pm, where we will rest for the remainder of the day. On July 14th we shall again rest and entertain ourselves until the normal gig time. On July 15th, we shall set out for Baton Rouge at 10:00am. We shall get there sometime around 5:00pm for our usual concert. The next day we shall leave at noon to get to Jackson at about 3:00pm. We shall have yet another gig that night. Next, we shall head to Montgomery at noon, hoping to arrive there at about 5:00pm for our next gig. On July 18th, we shall set out for Tallahassee at noon, arriving there at about 4:30pm. On the next morning, we shall start towards Atlanta at noon, arriving around 5:00 for another concert. On the 20th, we shall head out at noon towards Nashville, to arrive sometime near 4:00pm for another gig. Then the next day we shall start towards Columbia at 9:00am to be there sometime around 4:00pm for another concert. The day after that, we shall start out to Raleigh at noon to arrive at about 4:00pm for yet another concert. On July 23rd, we shall head out towards Richmond at noon to arrive there around 3:00pm for our next preformance. The next day we shall head out at 1:00pm to arrive at Washington D.C. at about 3:00pm for our next preformance. The day after that, we will start the ride to Annapolis at noon to arrive sometime around 1:00pm for our usual concert. Then, on the 27th, we shall head towards Hartford at noon to arrive sometime near 5:15 to get ready for another gig. Then the next day we start towards Providence at noon, arriving around 2:00 for our next preformance. The 29th is going to be a break day for us. Then on July 30th, we will start out at 2:00pm to arrive in Boston around 3:00pm. The next day we shall start out at noon to arrive in Concord around 1:30pm for another concert. That is all we have planned so far.

We are trying to figure out what mode of trasportation to take... Tiatra and I think that we should buy a car or a bus for the trip, but Bryinda and Coleton think it would be smarter to rent. Kyle, of course, wants a limo. Oh well, I've got to go now. See ya!

Pictures

Hey, I don't have very much time to write today. I've only got a few minutes until band practice. Everything is going well. I calculated the number of miles that the whole trip is going to take, and if I do some rounding up and add on an extra %10 just in case, then the trip takes 12,082 miles. Yep, we are going pretty far.
I've got a few anime style pictures of the members of our band. Coleton and Kyle's dad made this big speech about how it wasn't safe to put real pictures up on the internet, so I'm just going to post these pictures that look like us, but anime style. The order is like this, from top to bottom: Aria, Tiatra, Bryinda, Kyle, Coleton.

Okay, I've got to go now. Bye!

Tour Plan

This is my band's blog. Right now, we are only a small garage band, and we don't really have any special plans to change that. Except maybe Kyle. He's obsessed with fame. Anyway, we are a tight little group of friends. The members are, Aria(me! I'm the singer and leader of the band), Bryinda(she's our bass guitarist), Tiatra(she's the lead guitarist), Coleton (he's our drummer), and Kyle(he's our keyboardist). It's not a very big band, but we still have fun. We are all 18 years old, or soon to turn 18, except for Kyle. He is 19 years old. Kyle and Coleton are brothers. Well, they are only step brothers, but it's just easier to call them brothers.
We are planning a band tour right now. We have been playing together for four years, but we haven't gone anywhere because we couldn't get the money. Really we just want to see the rest of the U.S.A., but we thought that it would be easier to earn money along the way by playing at our stops. My grandpa wrote in his will, that I get 50% of his money when I turn 18, and that the rest goes to my parents. I'm turning 18 on June 26th, and we are going to use that money for the start of our tour. I'm still not quite sure how much money I will get, but I suppose I'll find that out on my birthday!
We are going to see the capitals of some of the states on our tour. We won't get to see all of them because that would cost too much money and take up too much of our time. Our plan is still kind of sketchy, but so far we are planning to start from Marysville, WA and hit Salem OR, Sacramento CA, Carson City NV, Salt Lake City UT, Phoenix AR, Santa Fe NM, Austin TX, Baton Rouge LA, Jackson MS, Montgomery AL, Tallahassee FL, Atlanta GA, Nashville TN, Columbia SC, Raleigh NC, Richmond VA, Washington D.C. VA, Annapolis MD, Harrisburg PA, Hartford CT, Providence RI, Boston MA, Concord NH, Augusta ME, Montpelier VT, Albany NY, Columbus OH, Lansing MI, Indianapolis IN, Springfield IL, Madison WI, St. Paul MN, Pierre SD, Bismark ND, Helena MT, and then arrive back home in Marysville. Quite a tour huh?
I am very excited to go on the tour and see the sights. I plan to bring my camera so that I can take pictures of everything. I really like photography. Bryinda is excited, but she is more calm about it. I think mostly she just thinks it will be cool to go on a real band tour. Tiatra is very excited. Today she went out and bought us all matching costumes... She obviously loves to shop. She won't show them to us yet. She says that they are a suprise. I think Coleton has peeked already. Coleton has been writing songs like crazy to get us ready for the tour. He is our song writer, and a very smart one at that. He can fit almost any word into the song and still make it sound fairly decent. At least, I think so. Kyle is also pretty excited about this, but mostly because he thinks that he is going to get his chance at fame. The rest of us don't really care much though, we just want to have fun!
I think I hear the phone ringing. That's probably my friends calling for the next band practice. We have been practicing nonstop for the past few weeks, so I don't know when I will get time to write again. Anyway, I had better go answer it.
